I think maybe one of the reasons is when people go on a diet some eat nothing but fat free foods and very little carbs. Which is bad because your body needs a decent amount of fat and carbs in order to function properly
yes I guess ur all right, aside from poverty it also boils down to lack of information.. since many lack info on what are the right food for our body everyone tend to eat just about any thing as in like junk foods..
I think in western society it is due to the convienice lifestyle we love to lead, eating things that are quick and easy.
Also our blind faith in the food industry, where as a whole we eat anything that is packaged in a box and labeled with a brand name without a second thought, somehow believing that these thigns will do us no harm, not realising the food industry is a multi billion dollar business and as a whole is only concerned with making money, cutting corners on cost and nutrition wherever possible.
