protein shakes are great for you before or during a workout but beyond that, you have to be careful, you might never burn the fat and simply store it.

bravo! i agree. protein shakes pump you up with - as the name suggests - protein, that you don't get from food. they help maintain muscle when you're trying to gain weight again just don't overdo it.

I've been researching online to find out what's the perfect time to drink protein shake, but I don't know for sure until someone out there tells me, I wanna hear from you guys. Currently, I have mix reviews, some says it's better to drink it before working out while others say it's best after working out. What to do?

Hi carrieB!

i think you should first determine how much protein your body actually needs. Drinking more protein shakes in a day won't guarantee you to have more muscles in just a snap. It's true that enough protein is impt. for muscle growth, but I guess more may not be good. To have a fit body, hard work + enough protein + extra calories are what you need! Taking protein shakes before workout helps preserve lean muscle while taking it after workout will pretty much aid muscle recovery and tissue regeneration as well.

Since its in liquid form, I think taking protein shakes after working out will probably have better effect, =)

I mean liquid generally has higher absorption rate along with the combined secretion of insulin which improves the uptake of muscle cells

I don't think so, but maybe if you take it at large proportions you might gain weight. If you take this after work outs then it would really be a healthy drink because you need it especially when you are trying to develop musceles in your arms. Just have some control when drinking it.

Drink the shake within 30 mins of a hard workout. The protein will help repair muscles but will only build them if the correct overload is placed on the muscle.
