Hey everybody i was wandering i know as a bodybuilder that you need alot of carbs for energy and muscle recovery. I was wandering how many carbs should you consume each day and does it matter what kind of carbs you eat?

There are at least 1 or two threads about this subject already but in short:

- get at least 2 portions of carbohydrates daily
- eat 'good' carbs and by good carbs I mean nothing made with refined flour, only whole wheat.  These good carbs are absorbed by the system more slowly allowing time for your body to use them before they are stored as fat and giving you energy for a longer period of time.

I eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning with fresh fruit and yogurt.  Nice brown wild rice is a good compliemnt to any healthy meal but there are many healthy carb choices.

Good luck..

First of all, Corio gave you some great stuff.  Carbs is your body first source of energy.  So, you need carbs in your diet.  To be honest, it's unhealthy to have extreme low levels of carbs.  It all comes down to what type of carbs you get.  There are tons of unhealthy carbs.
Carbs are the biggest food group.  Of course, if you are a person that is trying to loose weight then, it is better to limit  your carbs towards the even and night.  But, you still need carbs no matter what your goals are.   Check out this article that I wrote for more details on the type of carbs.  I welcome any other questions that you may have.
