I really want to quit smoking, I'm 25 and I've been smoking since I was 17. I'm thinking twice on doing it because of the fear that I might gain so much weight. What must I do? can you help me?

having the urge to eat is natural when you've just stopped from smoking, you'll always find the need to put something in your mouth as a substitute for smoking. One tip I could tell you is to keep busy by chewing sugarless gum or put nutritious snacks in your fridge.

gaining weight is usually the side effect of quitting smoking, i was once a smoker for 5 years, luckily I was able to stop it, at that time i wasn't really worried of getting fat. All i had in mind was I had to stop smoking before it affects my health. Here I am now!
I then decided to start caring about my body, so I began visiting the gym. Perhaps you could also incorporate exercise in your daily schedule.

wow good for you shapedup! so you never smoked again? you must have great focus and control. Well as for me, I haven't smoked for 3 days, that's quite an achievement for me. hope I can continue it! wish me luck.

yes, i've never smoked again. it wasnt easy, esp with some friends who are smokers. it took a lot of control, indeed. but i think what motivated me the most is that cancer scares the hell out of me. reading and hearing news about this disease every so often was my wake up call.

All you have to do is "quit" plain and simple. determination must come within you. Sometimes smokers are just saying that it is hard to quit but the real fact is that they are not yet ready. Start with asking yourself, Am i really ready? If your answer is yes then the next step would be to Stop. Some smokers would again say it is hard and some would say it is bad for the health. Point is You will never stop unless you really try to stop right? Another way to quit smoking is to focus on something else, when you get the urge to smoke, chew a gum or candy. When your mind drifts on the idea of smoking think of other things like work or hobbies, anything that will take your mind away from cigarettes. Hope you could start quitting already before you body quits you!

Determination is really the key to this one if you really want to stop smoking. I have a lot of friends who are smokers and I was one of them too. But I was able to stop smoking for a year now (I think) They keep on asking me how did I do that and I just answered I want to live a healthy life and I was determined to do it and I did it little by little until I completely stopped smoking.

i tried to smoke for a while but i stopped bec. i felt that i wasn't really getting much out of it. if you really want to get into shape i think you should eliminate habits that would just slow you down.

Think of this... You won't bear the fruit of smoking right now, but in the near future for sure you'll feel the side effects or the result of smoking... Think of the people that surrounds you as a source of motivation. Remember that passive smokers are more affected than chain or active smokers, because passive smokers tends to inhale all the nicotines that chain smokers emits.

just like everyone i think you should have determination so that you'd really be committed in attaining your goal. you should also think about how much the quality of your life will change once you start to notice the effects of smoking to your health...
