Overtraining

Overtraining Athletes train regularly to be able to perform effectively in sports and vigorous physical activities. However, some athletes exercise too much. This can lead to Fitness Overtraining.

Overtraining happens when your body exceeds its capacity to recover. It means that you are training too much and your body is not able to recover right away. The body makes slow progress and you begin to feel tired easily. Even if you are training so hard, it seems that it is never enough. Too much of anything can be bad.

There are many ways to determine if you are already overtraining. You may feel pain in your muscles or joints, feel tired easily, have a headache, experience loss in appetite or you may even feel the inability to do complete workouts or you simply lack energy. Likewise, it is characterized by decreased performance, increased susceptibility to diseases/infections, weight loss, poor attitude to training, and even injury.

Overtraining is caused by a very simple fact. It is either you are exercising too much or you are not having sufficient rest. With any type of exercise that you do, take a break to allow your body to recover and function well. If you do not rest, this will only lead to a lot of problems especially being more prone to injuries and sickness.

Here are some ways to avoid Overtraining:
  • Take some rest to allow your body to recover from all the physical exercises that you do.
  • Reduce the volume or intensity of your workout.
  • Make sure that you eat a well-balanced diet.
  • Work on specific muscle groups on different days.
Have a training schedule or training log when you go to the gym to keep track of your exercises and to determine whether you are undertraining or overtraining.

They say that having enough rest is probably the best solution to avoid Overtraining. Having a break from training will not decrease your performance level. Always seek medical or professional advice to help you determine how you can have a smart and better training.
