Resolution to Succeed
THURSDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2007
Dallas, TX (PR.COM) - Every year, up to 80% of Americans will make a New Year's Resolution and every year, the majority fails, usually fairly quickly. Rather than simply repeating last year's mistakes, a growing number of people are taking advantage of complementary and alternative therapies to improve their chances for success. The most popular category for resolutions (26%) is about health and fitness, usually to eat less or better and to exercise more. Up to 30% of these resolutions won't survive the first month and the fitness industry projects that 60% of new exercise programs fail before the year is half over.
For 2008, many alternative health care practitioners are helping their clients prepare for success. In some cases, the body simply isn't ready to exercise and therapies like Rolf Structural Integration or the more gentle Feldenkrais Method can help correct the body's alignment and movement. This makes it easier to exercise correctly and helps to prevent injury. The Alexander Technique is popular with entertainers and athletes because it teaches them to use their bodies with minimum stress and wear but with maximum
effect, training that could benefit anyone beginning a serious exercise program. The body is willing for some people but their problem is their mental or emotional preparation. If there is a past trauma preventing someone from exercising, a therapy like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming) can remove the problem emotions from an experience. PSYCH-K, originally called psychological kinesiology, uses muscle testing to discover and change those subconscious beliefs which may be sabotaging exercise efforts.
Simply knowing there are complementary and alternative therapies to help heal injuries from an overly vigorous New Year's exercise regime can help improve dedication in the early stages. Today, the same cold laser technology being used by many professional sports teams is available for the weekend or New Year's athlete. SKENAR, a medical technology from the Russian space program, is also available in America now to improve the healing process. There is an easy-to-read new guide to complementary and alternative therapies to help people find the right therapy and be more successful with their New Year's Resolutions.
UnBreak Your Health was awarded Finalist in this year's Best Books Awards for the Health/Alternative Medicine category.
