UltraSports LLC, a charity-minded running event production company, announced today that it has opened registration for the Second Annual KEYS100 ultramarathons, to be held May 16-17, 2009. The KEYS100 includes 100-mile and 50-mile individual races and a six-runner 100-mile team relay race in the Florida Keys. The event (www.keys100.com) will again raise funds for the fight against prostate cance r, with donations made to The Richard J. Fox Foundation (www.fox-foundation.org), a 501(c) 3 charitable organization whose focus for 20 years has been the prevention and cure of prostate cancer.

The KEYS100 road race will cover nearly the entire length of the spectacular Florida Keys, a beautiful and memorable running venue for individual ultramarathon runners and relay team members alike. The 100-mile races begin in Key Largo and the 50-mile race begins in Marathon, with all events finishing at Smathers Beach in Key West. The team relay sets itself apart from other relay races due to its length (100 miles) and team size (six runners), and because the teams themselves determine how far, and how frequently, each member will run. This flexible format allows teams to strategically plan for course conditions while catering to the abilities of each teammate. The relay is designed so that anyone who has completed a half marathon can readily complete the course with five running friends.

Individual ultramarathon participants will compete in age group categories. The 100-mile finishers will earn a belt buckle in keeping with ultramarathon tradition. Relay teams will compete with each other for awards based on finishing times in a number of categories. Bragging rights will also extend to special prizes for most original team name, best decorated vehicle and others to maintain an emphasis on broad participation and the crucial fun factor that is such an important part of relay racing. All finishers will receive medals. Special recognition will go to the team that raises most donations.

Fundraising is strongly encouraged, but it is not required. All charitable funds raised will be donated to The Richard J. Fox Foundation for further distribution to recipient charities for educational outreach and free prostate cancer screenings, and for research to find a cure. To promote participation in the fundraising aspect, UltraSports will return registration fees to any team that raises four times their registration fee amount in donations. In addition, UltraSports will donate 10% of gross registration fees to the cause.

“We felt waiving the registration fee for teams who raise impressive amounts for the fight against prostate cancer was the right thing to do,” remarked KEYS100 Race Director, Bob Becker. “We are very proud of our 4-year partnership with The Richard J. Fox Foundation. The Foundation has raised more than $2 million over the years. Prostate cancer affects one in six men in the United States. Anything we can do to curb this staggering number has the potential to positively impact millions of American men and their families.”

“The UltraSports’ events, the KEYS100 and PALM100 are great vehicles for our organization to raise public awareness as well as funding to fulfill our mission,” stated Ann Marie Fox, a Board Member of The Richard J. Fox Foundation. “We are delighted to work with UltraSports LLC on the popular KEYS100 that promotes fitness while raising money for the fight against prostate cancer.”

Registration for the KEYS100 can be completed online at www.keys100.com or by mail by downloading a registration form at www.keys100.com.

Starting this December, hundreds of Coloradans will join a national effort in the fight against prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Education Council (PCEC) has partnered with Milwaukee, WI-based Assurant Health, a national provider of individual medical, small group and specialty health insurance, to provide Denver's runners and walkers with an opportunity to raise prostate cancer awareness by participating in the Assurant Health RunDenver Series of foot races.

On Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10 a.m., at Denver's City Park, the Rudolph Ramble will kick off the Assurant Health RunDenver Series. The Assurant Health RunDenver Series, which includes four races over the next three months, marks the beginning of the 2009 PACE Race Series, a national 5K run/walk series that aims to increase awareness of prostate cancer and to educate men and their families on the importance of early detection. The Assurant Health RunDenver Series includes:

• Rudolph Ramble, December 20, 2008 - Denver's City Park
• Super Bowl, February 1, 2009 - Denver's Washington Park
• Valentine's Day, February 15, 2009 - Denver's Washington Park
• That Dam Run, March 1, 2009 - Cherry Creek Dam

"Early detection saves lives. I have had the opportunity to meet many prostate cancer survivors through the PACE Race Series, and the majority of them agree that early detection saved their lives," said Laura Nicholas, National PACE Race Director. "The PACE Race Series provides the community with educational information on prostate cancer and the means to lead a healthier life style."

The Assurant Health RunDenver Series is an opportunity for the whole family to join the fight against prostate cancer, with a 5K run/walk and a half-mile kid's race. Additionally, as part of its efforts to raise greater prostate cancer awareness in Denver, the PCEC will provide information on prostate cancer at the races.

"Raising awareness about prostate cancer is extremely important to us, as the disease currently affects more than two million American men," said Wendy Poage, President, Prostate Cancer Education Council. "With races throughout the country, we have a real opportunity to touch men in all walks of life and educate them, and their families, about this devastating disease."

"We are proud to team up with the Prostate Cancer Education Council to help raise awareness of this disease, inform men that prostate cancer is often treatable when caught early and provide support for the thousands of them who are battling it," said Steve Dodder, Regional Sales Director, Assurant Health.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer, other than skin cancers, in American men. With a one in six lifetime risk of developing prostate cancer, estimates for 2008 indicate that more than 186,000 men will be diagnosed in the United States, and nearly 28,700 will die from the disease. The second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer, prostate cancer is often treatable if detected early.

U.S. marathon legend Bill Rodgers, the national spokesperson for the PACE Race Series and a prostate cancer survivor, cannot stress the importance of screenings enough. "It is my hope that all men at risk for prostate cancer are screened for this deadly disease. It's the best way to detect prostate cancer in its early stages because there are no early warning signs or symptoms," he said. "Even though I began running again only four months after my tumor was removed, I continue to receive regular screenings and advise other men to do the same."

The PACE Race Series - sponsored by sanofi-aventis to benefit the PCEC - was launched in 2002 to increase national awareness of prostate cancer. Recent reports have shown parents are more likely to outlive their kids because of increasing high medical ailments on the rise due to the childhood obesity epidemic. In the news last week, it was stated obese children and teens are showing signs of having arteries of 45 year olds! There is no question that this must be addressed immediately! Families nationwide are in desperate need of assistanc e to curb this widespread health crisis. Parents must take control and adapt to a new lifestyle that will enrich their families' future.

Tosca Reno now 49 years old and stunning, was once a 40 year old desperate housewife exasperated by yo-yo dieting, in a dead-end marriage and with very low self esteem, who topped the scales at 204 lbs. After many years of watching The Oprah Winfrey Show and reading self help books, she finally claimed her life, deciding her 3 daughters deserved more from their mother. She left her marriage, enrolled in school to later obtain a teaching degree, joined the gym and started "Eating Clean."

At 41 years old (after losing over 75 pounds and disciplined weight training) she graced her first cover of the widely popular women's fitness magazine, Oxygen (she has since landed 10 covers including Woman's World's May 07 issue.) She accomplished all this with her "Eating Clean" principals and soon was at the top of her game. With endless energy she was now thrilled with how she looked and felt.

Later, as the "Raise The Bar" Oxygen Magazine Columnist - geared towards 40 plus women, Tosca was bombarded with mail asking her for advice and guidance about transforming one's body and life. That was when her "Eat-Clean Diet" series was developed. She now has 5 books under her belt: The Eat-Clean Diet -national bestseller, The Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook -national bestseller, The Eat-Clean Workout, Eat-Clean Workout Journal and The Butt Book, all of which have been featured in countless national TV, radio and magazine/newspapers/blogs.

Tosca, now an internationally renowned bestselling author, has said "It is my sincerest wish that other women and their families will have the same success I've had - that they will lose weight, gain health and wake up everyday feeling that life is full of possibilities. I'm having the time of my life and I want everyone to come with me!"

Motivated to help families stricken with major health issues due to childhood obesity and to help prevent these health problems, Tosca has begun a crusade to turn families around as she turned her own family around, with newly released 6th book "Eat-Clean Diet For Family And Kids: Simple Strategies for lasting health & fitness (Robert Kennedy Publishing.) This book will inspire, motivate and guide families wanting to transition into a healthier lifestyle with informed food decisions, "one meal at a time."

By establishing health eating habits early, children can avoid a number of health problems, including Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Good nutrition is not only key to healthy, leaner bodies, but also to healthy minds and good concentration. This is especially important for school-age kids who are acquiring lifelong habits.

Tosca's new must-read is a great resource providing busy Moms with all necessary tools to begin setting the right example for their families that needs to start at home. Healthy changes need to start at home, and this book helps add fun family bonding to health by getting kids involved in choosing recipes and grocery shopping, and assisting in the kitchen preparing meals, school lunches and snacks.

Reno discusses in her book: - How to get picky kids to eat healthy and like it,
- Eat-Clean meal ideas for birthdays, holiday fests and family events,
- Budget-conscious supermarket shopping strategies,
- How to give any fridge, freezer, or pantry an instant Eat-Clean makeover,
- Advice on identifying and eliminating foods full of preservatives and chemicals,
- Eat-Clean ingredient substitution to make favorite family recipes healthier,
- Eat-Clean alternatives at fast food restaurants and for backyard barbeques,
- Inspirational success stories and 12 tips to make Eat-Clean lifestyle work at any home and,
- 60 delicious easy to prepare recipes families and kids will love such as: Sweet Whole-Grain Breakfast Pancakes, Crispy Chicken Bites, PB & J sandwiches, Healthy Mac & Cheese, Sloppy Joes, Yummy Apple Pie and even birthday cupcakes!

Tosca competed and placed 4th place in The Miss Bikini America contest in Las Vegas on November 21st and 22nd. In September, she came in 3rd place in Paul Dillett's WBFF competition. At nearly 50 years old, she is in the best shape of her life! Tosca recently landed her own TV show with Canadian's W Network and has a crew following her around filming her life as an author, mother, speaker, fitness & health expert and competition. The show launches in February 2009.
