We’ve seen the stories in the news about bullying, sexting, and teen pregnancy, but one socially conscious company is changing that. Inspired Girls International, a Los Angeles based personal development company and lifestyle brand for teen girls is producing its Inspired Girls Success Summit National Tour this fall in Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Atlanta and Nashville. The events feature inte ractive workshops, live entertainment, beauty bars, giveaways, and more. Featuring speakers and success coaches from across the U.S., the Success Summit inspires and educates teen girls on the specific skills they need to become the feminine leaders of the next generation. The event also features workshops for parents on topics like social media, bullying, and paying for college.

Inspired Girls has partnered with non-profit organizations and women professionals in each of the five cities on the tour. C&G Enterprises (New York), Jewels & G.EM.S. (Atlanta), Universal Event Planning (Nashville), Imani Phi Christ (Los Angeles), and Living Life Golden (Houston) are the partnering organizations. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the non-profit partners.

Girls who attend the Success Summit receive full color workbooks, membership to the Inspired Girls online community, an opportunity to win college scholarships, makeovers and more. The curriculum for the event covers financial literacy, academic excellence, personal development, beauty, health & fitness, relationships, and spiritual growth. According to the survey results, one hundred percent of the girls who attended last year’s Summit would come again and bring a friend.

“This event goes beyond self-esteem and teaches the science of success. From entrepreneurship to makeup, we’ve created a holistic curriculum that’s full of actionable content and really inspires girls to create a life of purpose,” says Inspired Girls CEO Lisa Nicole Bell.

This year’s event features workshops for parents on important topics such as bullying, paying for college, dating, and more. Luna is sponsoring healthy snacks for the girls and their parents, and every girl who attends will receive a yearlong subscription to Seventeen magazine.

Some lucky fifth graders had their dreams come true when they got to play in school—and their grades went up as a result. Brain Fitness Strategies ran a controlled study on the benefits of Swedish brain therapy Rhythmic Movement Training by having students play in class rather than read. The results were impressive: students gained an average of 31 words per minute in their reading speed, while t he control group gained only 12 words per minute. With a vision of adding this program to all public schools, sponsors are being sought to fund a larger study.

Since 90% of sixth graders who fail English will drop out of school, the new therapy could be the answer to a lot of parents’ prayers—and school administrators. Not bad results from a brain-damaged juggler and an engineer.

At the first of this year, Paul Phariss and his wife, Susan, earned their certification in a brain therapy called Rhythmic Movement Training. Prior to becoming a consultant, Paul Phariss had to overcome a great deal of brain damage himself. A swimming accident at age six left him with severe brain damage and unable to read until age 30. Paul made his living as a professional juggler, winning the coveted gold medal at the world juggling championships. “It wasn’t until I did the training for RMT that I completely overcame my dyslexia at age 54.”

His wife, Susan, began her career as a mechanical engineer. “The money was great, but it didn’t satisfy my need to help people.” After marrying “a brain-damaged juggler” and hearing his stories of discrimination and being called “stupid and lazy” as a child, she felt a burning desire to help children overcome their learning challenges and co-authored their book.

“Anyone walking by the classroom would think it was total mayhem,” smiled Susan. “Kids are spinning plates, picking up marbles with their toes, bouncing balls off their backs, and balancing on teeter boards during our sessions. Students are evaluated then prescribed specific play designed to fill in developmental gaps that cause learning disabilities.”

6-Pack Fitness has announced the launch of its 6-Pack Meal Management System, to begin appearing in stores and online on June 21st. First debuted last October at Joe Weider’s Olympia Weekend, the line of diet organizers has received overwhelming approval from fitness enthusiasts and professionals alike.

“The responses at Olympia Weekend and the Arnold Classic were tremendous. We’re ext
remely excited to help simplify healthy living, and to make fitness and dieting less of a hassle,” says company cofounder Mark Samuel. “The bags will first be made available on 6-Pack Fitness’s Web site, http://www.sixpackbags.com/promo, and will hit retail stores later in the year.”

6-Pack Fitness has created a revolutionary meal management bag designed to help fitness enthusiasts and dieters overcome the arduous task of managing a daily meal and supplement regimen amidst their busy every-day activities. Time and again, trainers and fitness experts have stressed the importance of a proper diet for improving strength training and weight-loss results, but eating right is hard to manage, especially in today’s fast-paced work environment.

The meal management system assists those without the luxury of time in their daily routines. Two strategically placed ice packs keep an array of up to five meals, along with healthy fruits, snacks and beverages, cool and fresh all day. Additionally, storage compartments leave room for protein powders, shaker and utensils, while a custom built tray organizes supplements.

6-Pack Fitness is an innovative health and fitness lifestyle company founded by fitness enthusiast Mark Samuel, 6-Pack Meal Management creator Misha Breyburg and design developer Sasha Plotitsa. The company aims to make a healthy, fitness lifestyle more manageable by providing helpful products and insider recommendations. “We are excited to introduce smart products into the health and fitness market, and will be unveiling our newest innovation at this year’s Olympia Weekend,” states Misha Breyburg.

LifeFitness4Me, providing the highest quality personal fitness services for the whole family, announced today that it has formed The San Diego Pregnant Fitness Group for expectant mothers who are interested in learning how to safely keep fit and healthy during their pregnancy. The group will meet twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting on July 8, 2010.

“Pregnant women
are frequently unsure about appropriate exercise during pregnancy. They often need a little extra support and motivation, and they’re typically more comfortable working out the other mothers-to-be,” said Connie Marshall, owner of LifeFitness4Me. “This group, which provides a cost-effective alternative to personal training, offers a fun, safe environment for exercising, learning and socializing.”

Group members will learn pregnancy-specific exercise techniques and the modifications that should be made for each stage of their pregnancy. Each session will also include information and guidance regarding prenatal nutrition. Six sessions are just $60, and registration is available online at http://www.meetup.com/pregnant-fitness.

The benefits of exercising during pregnancy are well documented, and include increasing muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness to be better prepared for the physical challenges of labor and delivery. Fit pregnant women typically have shorter and less painful labor; 65% of those who exercise are natural painkillers.

Marshall empowers her clients to stay active, fit and healthy during their pregnancy, postpartum and beyond through personal training and specialized fitness classes. As a Certified Prenatal and Postnatal Exercise Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and mom, she has advanced skills and knowledge specific to pregnant and postnatal women that enable her to create dynamic exercise programs that are safe and effective.
