In a move that may set a precedent, Television Frenzies is organizing a Silly Bandz Trading Day Fundraiser on October 2, 2010, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Mayfair Mall, Wisconsin. The retail company that is known to aggressively promote selective brands will donate the proceedings of the fundraiser to the Wisconsin community's children's hospital.

"None of us like to think of the
bad things that happen in life," says Michael Morelli Jr., the President of television frenzies. "But one day you or your family may very well need the help of your community and this hospital." He further adds, "The smile and happiness of a healthy child is a heart-warming gift for everyone and at Television Frenzies we wholeheartedly believe in supporting children, who are our future.”

Silly Bandz is one of the primary products promoted and sold by Television Frenzies and the bands are a hit among people of all ages. They have high sales volumes across the nation because of the shapes they come in and the trend they have set off. You can get Silly Bandz in the shapes of animals, vehicles, celestial bodies, prehistoric animals, rock band paraphernalia and almost every other thing under the sun. They behave like normal rubber bands when stretched but when you release them they come back to their original shape, and they come in hundreds of shapes and sizes.

Considering the popularity of Silly Bandz, Television Frenzies has chosen this particular product as a theme to organize a fundraising event. They will donate 0.50 cents for every pack of silly bands sold. The executives at Television Frenzies estimate that considering the popularity of Silly Bandz and the location of the fund-raising event (the Mayfair mall) they should be able to raise a sizable donation.

In a unique attempt toward the fight against childhood obesity, children in the United States are going to exercise for ten continuous hours on Thursday, October 7, 2010 in the second annual Exercise US, or Exercise United States day. As stated in US News & World Report referring to the Exercise US program - - “In a unique attempt to fight childhood obesity and cuts being made to school physica l education programs, elementary, middle, and high schools from New York to Hawaii and Alaska have signed on to a newfangled "fitness relay" event.”

The concept in very simple - - Beginning at 8:00 am (est.), a school in New Jersey will exercise from 8:00 - 8:15 am. When their prearranged time slot is over, a school in New York will begin their prepared exercise session from 8:15 – 8:30 am. Once an organized 15-minute time allotment ends, another location will pick up where the last school or organization left off. This pattern will continue for 10 hours until the last time slot is filled at 3:00 pm (pst.). Schools have been signing up for their 15 minute time slots since early May.

Len Saunders, a physical education teacher in New Jersey, and author of Keeping Kids Fit (LaChance Publishing, NY), created the Exercise US event. Saunders is also the creator of Project ACES (www.projectaces.com), which has motivated millions of children to exercise over the last 20 years.

According to Saunders, “this could be the first generation of children whose life expectancy may be shorter than their parents. With the rise is type 2 diabetes and other health related diseases associated with obesity, children need motivational techniques that get them to exercise.” Saunders is thrilled to introduce this new program on a national level. To learn more about the Exercise US program in greater detail, or to see the list of schools that have signed up to participate, visit the Exercise US web site at: www.uskidsworkout.com

On Wednesday, September 29, 2010, more than 1,400 groups across the country will celebrate National Women's Health and Fitness Day, hosting women’s health and fitness events at senior centers, hospitals, health clubs, parks and recreation centers, local health and service organizations, schools, retirement communities, houses of worship, and other community locations.

Organized and pro
moted by the Health Information Resource Center, or the HIRC, National Women's Health and Fitness Day was created to encourage women to take control of their health, to learn the facts they need to make good health choices, and to make time for regular physical activity. The Nurse Practitioners Association of Long Island (NPALI) encourages women across Long Island to celebrate the day by making a commitment to learn more about their health and wellness and to take at least 30 minutes out of their busy schedules to do their favorite exercises.

Nurse practitioners across Long Island advises all healthy women aged 18 to 65 adhere to the American College of Sports Medicine’s suggestion to begin a plan of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes five days each week or vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 20 minutes three days each week.

Women can meet the recommendation by walking briskly for 30 minutes twice during the week and then jogging for 20 minutes on two other days. Moderate-intensity aerobic activity, which is generally equivalent to a brisk walk, can be accumulated toward the 30-minute minimum by performing walks each lasting 10 or more minutes. Vigorous-intensity activity is exemplified by jogging. Women should also consider strength and endurance routines a minimum of two times per week.

The First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, will join Nickelodeon in celebrating the network's seventh annual Worldwide Day of Play by sharing a special message encouraging kids and families to turn off their televisions and computers and to get out and play, at noon (all times ET/PT) on Saturday, Sept. 25. Worldwide Day of Play is Nickelodeon's signature health and wellness event mar ked by its TV channels and websites--including Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., TeenNick and Nick.com--going off the air and offline from noon to 3 p.m. to inspire kids and families to get up and get active. Kids in 10 countries and in every state across the U.S. are expected to participate in Worldwide Day of Play at more than 3,000 local events scheduled worldwide.

The First Lady will appear on Nickelodeon at noon on Saturday, Sept. 25, to officially turn the channel off in celebration of Worldwide Day of Play, which is part of Nickelodeon's overall The Big Help health and wellness efforts. The goal of The Big Help pro-social campaign is to launch a kid-led movement, focusing on four key issues, health and wellness, education, community service, and the environment. As part of its $1 million commitment to provide grants through The Big Help campaign, Nickelodeon is awarding approximately $50,000 to schools and community organizations across the country to help create and expand opportunities for active play.

"Nickelodeon is honored the First Lady will be lending her support and turning off our channels and web sites in celebration of Worldwide Day of Play," Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group. "The First Lady is an incredible advocate for improving the health and wellness of kids in this country through her Let's Move campaign and we share her commitment to raising awareness for this important issue. We know her message will motivate even more kids and families to get active in the true spirit of Worldwide Day of Play."

Earlier this year, Nickelodeon announced a partnership with the First Lady's nationwide Let's Move campaign, which aims to solve the problem of childhood obesity. Nickelodeon's involvement in Let's Move continues the network's legacy of addressing important issues to kids. For more than a decade, Nickelodeon has empowered kids and families to live healthier lifestyles, providing them with information and resources; committing millions of dollars and air time to health and wellness messaging through its Let's Just Play and The Big Help pro-social campaigns and its grants program.
