Finding Your Life Fitness Equilibrium With all the information that's out there on health, wellness, fitness, eating right and exercising, why isn't everyone in America in great shape? Well executive coach, motivational speaker and former New Orleans Saints football player Dave Hubbard, known as America's Fitness Coach has one answer. That's why he's joining forces with WellStar Health Place to offer a six week course on finding your Life Fitness Equilibrium.

There are so many opposing forces that prevent people from achieving their fitness goals, says Hubbard. I help people find their equilibrium so they can adopt a realistic nutrition and workout plan that delivers results over the long haul. My approach is simple: in order for any change to be permanent, you've got to be willing to live with that change permanently, for the rest of your life.

For WellStar Health Place, Dave Hubbard's philosophy is a great fit with its approach and philosophy. We're happy to be able to offer Dave Hubbard's Life Fitness Equilibrium course to WellStar Health Place members and to anyone in the local community who is looking for a sensible way to get and stay in shape, says Executive Director Allan Bishop. As a former professional athlete who now has to work at fitness like the rest of us, Dave really understands the challenges and how to overcome them.

Participants in The Life Fitness Equilibrium class will also have the unique opportunity to contribute to a new book Dave Hubbard is co-authoring with Susan Heller Shoer, who along with being a creative consultant, writer and video producer is a professional dieter and exerciser who understands full well how life can throw your fitness equilibrium off balance.

The Life Fitness Equilibrium class begins Tuesday, May 15th from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM and continues through June 19th. WellStar Health Place is located at 330 Kennestone Hospital Blvd. in Marietta, Georgia.

New Video To Lose Love Handles Jared DiCarmine, a world renowned physique transformation expert has just released a brand new video detailing specific ways someone can follow if they are extremely interested in how to lose love handles. In the video, DiCarmine goes through numerous pitfalls and dead-ends that someone goes through when it comes to losing the stubborn fat around their belly and waist-line. This type of fat is ve ry hard to lose and often plagues people for a long time, especially if they are already skinny to begin with and want to achieve a ripped set of abdominals and a flat stomach.

One of the ways that DiCarmine talks about in on how to lose love handles is the use of certain types of workouts that burn the most amounts of calories and belly fat. These types of workouts are called metabolic resistance training workouts and have been scientifically proven to utilize the most amounts of calories in the quickest time frame possible. Plus, these workouts have been proven to elevate one’s metabolism for the longest period of time because of the EPOC principle, which stands for excess post oxygen consumption. This is when an oxygen debt is created inside of the body and one’s metabolism is therefore increased, burning more body fat then normally possible.

Also, this effect cannot happen when someone does traditional cardiovascular training because the demand is not high enough inside the body. That is one of the big reasons why metabolic resistance training exercises are the best to lose love handles. They elicit a huge adaptation response inside of the body, therefore the body must be forced to recover and adapt, therefore it burns a tremendous amount of calories for a long period of time.

Combined with this and “strategic over-feeding” one can discover the secret on how to lose love handles without having to resort to any crazy fad diets, long, slow and boring cardio sessions or purchase very expensive and often dangerous bottles of fat loss powders, pills, and potions.

If one wants to learn more about this unique system and watch the video, all he or she has to do is go to www.TheLoveHandleCure.com to get more information.

New Book Addresses Mental Obesity Epidemic 20% of Americans think the president is Muslim. 50% of the people who receive Medicare, Social Security and other programs don’t believe they get government money. Why, at the pinnacle of the information age, do so many Americans hold so many corrupted facts and beliefs? New book Does This News Make Me Look Fat? How America's Junk Food Diet Makes Us Mentally Obese. And The Diet Plan For Fitness p resents an answer and a solution.

The book argues that the public is not dumb, but rather mentally obese. A condition where fast food like media consumption (large, low quality and taste driven) media habits have made us mentally flabby, cognitively lazy and easily manipulated by emotional and fact-free arguments.

"Media is food for the mind," says author and 20-year advertising executive Brooks Richey. “Without a nutrition plan to guide our data consumption, we tend to consume media that caters to our visceral tastes over our knowledge nutrient needs. Like eating lots of ice cream over vegetables. The build up of junk or opinion-based data takes its toll on the mind and our critical and cognitive skills.”

The book suggests managing the evaluation and consumption of media the same way you do food. Developing a palate to taste flavors in media, learning to distinguish ingredients and facts from emotional taste and flavorful opinions and use the information to create a balanced, mentally nutritional media diet using a media food pyramid.

Richey says the need for a book like this is long overdue because media and its ability to influence has never really been explained to the public in a way it can wrap its head around beyond “left/right” bias and angry accusations. A 2011 Pew Research poll says the anger at the media is at the highest level ever. Richey says that frustration comes from the public’s sense of helpless to understand its relationship with media outlets or do anything about it.

As he believes The Omnivore's Dilemma was the wake up call for hidden dangers to people within food, Richey thinks Does This News Make Me Look Fat does the same for media. Using food as a model to present a way for ordinary people to make informed and balanced media decisions. And through a healthier media diet, improve their mental fitness and informed reasoning skills to stand up to manipulative messaging. The book, published through imprint Omena Publishing, is scheduled for release May 1, 2012 on Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble bookstores. More on the book is available at the book’s web site www.junkfoodmedianation.com and the author’s site www.brooksrichey.com.

Cholesterol Levels Linked to Alzheimer's, Dementia QuickMedical, a leading distributor of the CardioChek® cholesterol testing instrument for healthcare professionals, and the CardioChek® home cholesterol analyzer released a statement today hailing a new study by Kaiser Permanente. The study suggests that high cholesterol levels are a significant risk factor for developing dementia and Alzheimer's Disease later in life.

The results of t
he study were published in the journal of Dementia & Geriatric Cognitive Disorders. The research study tracked 9,844 men and women for four decades, starting when the participants were between 40 and 45 years of age.

After controlling for weight, hypertension and diabetes, the researchers discovered a significant link between borderline-high cholesterol and dementia.

The participants in the study, who had high cholesterol, or a value of 240mg/dl or more, had a 66 percent greater risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease later in life. People with borderline-high cholesterol, between 200 and 239, had a 25 percent spike in risk.

According to the American Heart Association, more than 106 million Americans reportedly have borderline-high cholesterol levels.

"With the availability of our CardioChek® cholesterol testing device for the healthcare professional and the CardioChek® analyzer for home use there is now a way for the public to know their cholesterol level number," said Robert Huffstodt, President and CEO of Polymer Technology Systems. "The continued emergence of research findings such as these strongly reinforces the rationale for including cholesterol screenings as an integral part of healthcare preventative maintenance; not only with regards to heart disease and diabetes, but now with the risk of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.

The study concluded that people as young as 40 with borderline or high cholesterol levels are at increased risk for developing Alzheimer's disease or vascular dementia. Previous studies have linked heart and brain health, but this study is the first to examine the association between borderline cholesterol levels and dementia.

Women's Fitness: Walk On Ladies! In its effort to promote women’s fitness, good health and living a healthy lifestyle, Lady of America wants to make sure women are incorporating walking into their fitness program.

Walking five to seven days for a minimum of 30 minutes exposes women to many health benefits of walking. Studies have shown that for every hour of regular exercise two hours of life are gained. The President
’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports reports that walking one mile burns about 100 calories, depending on intensity, pace and speed. Walking has also been shown to help control weight, lower cholesterol, strengthen the heart, improve muscle tone and reduce the likelihood of serious health problems. And, it can slow the aging process.

AARP – a leading non-profit organization for people 50 and over – lists managing weight, controlling blood pressure, decreasing risk of heart attack and stroke among the many health benefits of walking. Walking also improves strength around the joints, which can help with degenerative joint disease. Other studies have found walking five days a week can significantly help reduce the risk of diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, arthritis and some cancers, including breast and colon for women over 50.

Simple and flexible, walking can be done anywhere – outdoors, indoors, in the city, on a treadmill or on a trail. To make sure every step counts, Lady of America offers some basic principles: wear a supportive and comfortable walking shoe; wear socks that are made of a breathable material; practice correct posture and good stride; drink plenty of water before, during and after; maintain a brisk pace; and cool down after the walk.

To help in the battle of the bulge, Lady of America suggests striving for 10,000 steps every day – that’s equivalent to approximately a 5-mile walk or an hour of speed walking. Use a pedometer to accurately measure the number of steps walked in a day. “Though 10,000 steps may seem daunting, it’s the perfect way for a sedentary person to start an exercise program and offers a new challenge for someone who focuses only on group classes,” said Natalie Brabner, Lady of America’s official women’s fitness trainer.

Can’t get all 10,000 steps in at one time? Brabner suggests breaking it up – walk to the store, take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk on work breaks or park the car further away. Going to a Zumba class or kickboxing class? Jump on the treadmill beforehand and sneak some extra steps in.

Like any other women’s fitness program, it’s important that the walking routine is consistently varied to avoid boredom and to challenge the body. Lady of America suggests getting a walking group together or joining a local walking club. If the weather is acting up, take the walk indoors [think treadmill or the mall]. Be sure to check out http://www.startwalkingnow.org and http://www.ava.org to find – or start – walking clubs in your local neighborhood.
